STEM Program for High School Students (9-12th graders)
Program Destination and Participants:
This program is exclusively customized for 9th-12th grade students and accompanying teachers and parents. The program requires minimum 30 students and a group cannot exceed 45 students in a group.
IDI, in partnership with George Mason University, is organizing a STEM based leadership program for high school students. The primary objective of this program is to develop critical thinking and interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education. STEM has been a critical topic in all careers and everyday life.
Students will be engaged in hands-on programs and workshops at University in Washington, DC. The program will also include historical tour of US Congress, World Bank and world famous Smithsonian museums. Students will have opportunity to greet Nepal’s Ambassador to United States of America. Participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the program.
The program will be 2 weeks long. The itinerary will be as below:
|Day 1||Arrival in Washington, DC and Stay at University Dormitory|
|Day 2-6||Start 5 days Program at University.|
|Day 7-8||Learn about US History ( Visit Monuments, Museums and US Congress)|
|Day 9||Session 1 on International Development at World Bank
Session 2 on STEM Worldwide at National Academy of Science, Washington, DC
|Day 9||Depart for Historic Philadelphia: Day Tour of Liberty Bell and Constitution Hall.|
|Day 9||Depart for New York in the evening (Holiday Inn or similar occupancy for double occupancy; Take Bus to NY)|
|Day 10-11||New York City Tour (2 day City Tour pass $79 per person plus entry fee to statue of liberty etc)|
|Day 12||Depart for Kathmandu|
International Development Institute (IDI) is a Washington, DC based organization that provides custom designed training on capacity building and organizes study tours for students, government officials and leaders from private sectors.
